Under the Oaks: Discovering the charm of Savannah~

Southern Charm Meets Waterfront Bliss in Savannah, GA

Staying at Olde Harbour Inn on the Riverwalk

If you’re looking for a place that perfectly blends history, charm, and comfort, Savannah, Georgia is an absolute gem. Nestled right on the Savannah Riverwalk, our stay at the Olde Harbour Inn was nothing short of magical. This boutique historic inn delivers a perfect blend of modern comfort and old-world charm and it starts the moment you walk through the doors.

A Perfect Stay: Spacious, Quiet, and Full of Southern Hospitality

The room chosen at the Olde Harbour Inn was incredibly spacious, much more than you’d expect from a traditional hotel room. Think of it more as a charming suite mimicking an apartment. It was complete with high ceilings, comfy furnishings, and plenty of space to spread out and relax after a day of sightseeing. We even had a balcony that  overlooked the river!

The staff was top-notch~ Always quick with a smile, attentive, and offered local tips. The entire property was clean and surprisingly quiet, especially considering its prime location right on the bustling Riverwalk. Each evening, they hosted a complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres reception, which made for the perfect wind-down as the sun dipped over the river. This thoughtful touch felt personal and luxurious all at once. And I cant forget the complementary Klondike bars in the room Freezer!!

Amazing views!

From our suite, we had amazing views of the Savannah River. We could’ve sat for hours just watching the little “tuggys” (tugboats) cruising by, followed by the massive, awe-inspiring cargo ships that roll through like floating skyscrapers. There's something deeply mesmerizing about watching them glide by, especially at sunrise or dusk.

The Riverwalk itself was a joy to explore. Just steps from our door, we wandered along the cobblestone paths, shopping at charming boutiques, picking up souvenirs, and enjoying street musicians and lively outdoor cafés.

Savannah is a foodie’s dream, and two meals stood out among the rest:

Graffito (just down the walk) offered modern Italian with a Southern twist. Their wood-fired pizzas and pasta dishes were fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious.

The Olde Pink House is worth every bit of hype. We were fortunate enough to spend our 30th anniversary here! The elegance, atmosphere, and rich history of the building set the tone, but it was the Southern classics and service that left us wowed. They're known for the she-crab soup & pecan-crusted chicken! It makes a statement and the house is actually pink!

What makes Savannah so special is how incredibly walkable the city is. From the inn, we wandered through the tree-lined squares, admired the centuries-old architecture, and popped into historic churches and hidden gardens. Every block offers something new. One block is Spanish moss-draped oaks, & cast-iron fountains, and the next can  be stories of haunted houses and antebellum tales. So much to take in.

One of the absolute highlights was the Savannah Riverboat Cruise. I chose a sunset cruise for my review, and it turned out to be the perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment.

I boarded a gorgeous paddlewheel-style riverboat, with open decks offering 360-degree views of the river, skyline, and iconic bridge. Watching the city fade into golden hour from the water was unforgettable.

Onboard, I enjoyed a drink from the full bar. They offered classic cocktails, local beer, and even frozen treats. They also offered a variety of food for purchase while on board. What really elevated the experience was the captain’s live narration, filled with fascinating historical facts, nautical trivia, and stories of the port’s heritage. Whether you stayed on the deck or enjoyed the climate-controlled dining room, every seat had a view. I enjoyed every moment.
