Sun, Scoops & Fun: Amelia Island, a Little Escape with Big Charm

Image
Amelia Island has a way of sneaking up on you. From the moment you roll onto the island, everything slows down in the best way. With its tree-lined streets, breezy ocean air, and that unmistakable small-town coastal charm, Amelia feels like the kind of place people fall in love with and then never stop talking about. Centered around the heart of it all, the Fernandina Beach area adds a layer of history, character, and walkable charm that turns a simple beach getaway into something that feels effortlessly special The drive from Savannah to Amelia Island was part of the experience, not just the commute. About two hours of scenery that shifts from charming Southern roads to coastal calm, it feels like you’re slowly turning the volume down on real life. Windows down, playlist up, expectations rising. By the time you arrive, you’re already in vacation mode and wondering why every trip isn’t like this. Every great beach town needs a solid ice cream moment, and Amelia Island absolutely delive...

Hilton Head Island: Sparkling even in the Rain.

Image
Let’s be honest. When you imagine Hilton Head Island, you picture sunshine, frolicking on the beach, bikes cruising under blue skies, and cocktails clinking at golden hour. Now imagine… RAIN... Not a drizzle. It can be a full mood-changer. Yet… Hilton Head still delivered. Because when the weather refused to cooperate, the island proved it has personality, not based on just palm trees and sunshine. The Plaza Area: Where the Island Kept Its Charm on a Rainy Day.  The plaza area is one of those spots that quietly becomes your favorite part of a trip. It was charming in a coastal, walkable, everyone-smiles-at-you kind of way. Even with the gray skies, the area was alive with quirky boutiques, beachy souvenir shops, snack stops and yummy desserts. Our rainy day turned into a “let’s  doge the puddles and just wander and see what we find” excursion. Rain, umbrellas, window shopping & laughing about how your hair & shoes never stood a chance. Honestly, kind of perfect. W...

Beach Please. Tybee Island Is a Whole Vibe!

Image
Tybee Island brings a totally different kind of coastal energy, and honestly, that’s part of its charm. This is the beach town that feels a bit quirky, a little retro, and its completely unapologetic about it. Think along the lines of colorful cottages, salty air and flip-flops as formalwear. Don’t forget the beachfront views that make you instantly slow your pace. We wandered past the sweet little shops along the strip, including one we think was Christie’s. It was the kind of place where you pop in for a quick look and leave 2 hours later loaded down with  souvenirs, stories from the shop owner, and bags you didn’t plan on carrying around. We mustn't forget  the Tybee Island Lighthouse! Standing out there proud like it knows it’s the main character. Tall, bold, and impossible to ignore, this striped beauty is basically the island’s way of saying, “Welcome to vacation mode.” Whether you climb all the way up for those brag-worthy ocean views or just admire it from the...

Choo-Choo!! A ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Experience from way up high!

Image
What started off as a questionable choice, ended up being a unique and scenic experience!  We absolutely loved our trip up Lookout Mountain on the  Incline Railway !! The view as you go up is amazing. As you come down the mountain you'll find a mix of awe and nervousness. The view out the front window is simply breathtaking. Don't be afraid to snag a seat near the windows. You get a full panorama of the Chattanooga valley below, and a you can watch as the old time railway works to pull the car. I was unsure of this prior to going, but boy am I glad we did it. It’s easy to see why this ranks as a top-rated attractions in the area. The staff and conductors were incredibly friendly and helpful, answering questions and making everyone feel welcome. We went early in the day and boarding process was smooth, and organized. You do have to trade in your tickets for a boarding pass though! So give yourself a few extra minutes to stop by the ticket booth to accomplish that. ...
